About

WHY A JUSTICE TEAMS NETWORK?

Across the state and the country grassroots organizations and nonprofits are working to identify effective models for preventing – and responding to – state violence. Often this work happens in silos with limited resources and visibility. The Justice Teams Network aims to change that by connecting organizations and groups committed to eradicating state violence from our communities within a powerful network that shares resources, information, and campaign strategy in real time; strengthening impact and resilience.

THE NETWORK HAS 5 PRIMARY COMPONENTS:

Rapid Response

Utilizing the Anti Police-Terror Project First Responders model we swiftly respond to incidents of state violence, working with survivors (the abused party, family members, etc.) and guide them through the necessary steps following an encounter with law enforcement.

Healing Justice

Utilizing the Dignity and Power Now model of healing transformation, we help the community healthily manage the longstanding and devastating consequences of trauma associated with state violence.

Grassroots Mobilization

We work to engage and educate the larger community in the struggle against state violence through base building, protests, demonstrations, and mass communications.

Legal Support & Aid

We work with lawyers and legal workers with both civil and criminal law experience who make themselves available to provide adequate legal support following incidents of state violence.

Policy

We work with partner organizations to identify and impact policies that offer a platform for law enforcement agencies to continue harming, traumatizing, and killing members of our communities.
